I was talking with my friend the other day after not seeing her for a bit and exclaimed how amazing she looked having lost so much weight! I asked if she had she been eating differently, exercising, starving herself? No way, she said, she had been visualizing her perfect self every morning in the mirror and telling herself how beautiful she was, and how gorgeous her body was. Her body believed her and followed suit. Holy mental weight loss! She let go of that seriously out dated image of herself that had her holding onto the physical weight and mental weight that she just didn't want anymore. Now for me - I catch myself being critical of my image now and then ‘cuz I ain’t no skinny Minnie either! But that's not the point. I have learned from her that how you believe you look is more important than measuring yourself against others. Just think about all that crap that runs through your mind every day, like: how you look fat, have cellulite, want your tummy to be flatter. If you look back 10 years you may realize not much has changed in how you think about yourself regardless of your size. Therefore, it’s time for your mental weight loss plan! Take Action: For the next 48 hours catch all negative thoughts that pop up in your brain and pull them out like weeds – just tug! Then replant a flower/positive thought in each place. For example, replace the thought, “I am fat” with “I love my body exactly as it is.” Replace “I will never be skinny” with “I love what I see.” It sounds cheesy but honestly you really do create your reality with your thoughts, so you may as well shift them to be positive ones, non? Just like you wouldn’t rely on someone to do your laundry for you, there is no need to rely on some person to tell you that you are beautiful. Don’t ask for beauty approval, own it. So give it a try! And if you like this blog, please share it with 3 friends on Facebook and post some changes you’ve experienced on my blog. Much Love and Mental Weight Loss~ Kelly
